Burbage Police Newsletter And Update For June 2026.
Hello Resident,
We hope you are keeping well. Below is our monthly Newsletter for June and a quick update as to what we have been up to since our last report. Our crime reduction catalogue is also attached to this email.
One person arrested on the 25th at 20:00 on Watling Street due to section 4 unfit to drive through drink or drugs. We have seen an increase of these types of offences over the last month. you would hope that people would understand the potential consequences of these actions, but perhaps not. If you have any information on persons drink or drug driving, please get in touch. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk
Most of our reports over the last week during the hot weather has related to public order, assaults, domestic incidents and criminal damage. These reports are isolated incidents and not of any wider community concern (domestic/neighbour disputes etc). We have been out and about completing targeted patrols at locations such as the East Close garage area, Tilton Road Park and Canberra Way due to recent concerns of drug use, suspicious activity and vehicle related anti-social behaviour.
We received a report from De La Bere Crescent that sometime on Friday evening to Saturday morning (22nd-23rd) a suspect may have entered a property through an unlocked door and entered the garage area. Nothing was taken (other than a key) and no damage caused but please be mindful of who is about and please do not make your home an easy targeted during the warmer weather. Please close easy to access windows if you are going out, ensure front doors are locked if you spend time around the back of your property and just consider if you would know if someone just decided to walk into your property. Please do not leave valuable items in easy to find locations. Please consider items such as windows alarms, PIR Alarms, RFID wallets and fence cactus spikes to help protect your property.
Burbage Police Newsletter June 2026
Issue: Summer Update June 2026
PC Davidson PCSO Stretton Sgt Cross
Welcome to my monthly update for the residents and communities of the Burbage. Neighbourhood Policing Area (NPA). This newsletter will be circulated on a regular basis and will provide an insight into what is happening at the NPA.
We have listened to you and the concerns you raised and prioritised the following: Below are our new priorities which we will be actioning this month. Below are our new priorities for the next few months.
Priority 1: Burglary
You Said – Burglaries of homes continue to be a concern in the area, this coupled with the fact that Easter and Spring half term will see people going away leaving their homes empty and an opportunity for criminals to take advantage presents a real risk for our community.
Priority 2: Anti-social Behaviour
You Said – Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) around local parks and streets in Burbage is a cause for concern, you noted incidents of cannabis/drug use, assault, bullying, criminal damage and general rowdiness. Concerns are that with the Easter holidays and other school breaks approaching young people will have more time on their hands and the warmer weather and lighter nights will encourage more people out that is likely to lead to wider ASB issues.
Priority 3: Vehicle Crime
You Said – Theft of tools from vans and theft of high powered/high end motor cars are crimes that our community have raised as a continued concern. As the weather improves, windows being left open present opportunities.
#WeDid - What we are doing
Burglary - Residential Burglaries will remain a priority for the next 3 months. Your local community team will be working hard to raise awareness with residents on the need to take steps prior to holidays to ensure your home appears lived in. The use of light times and support from friends and neighbours to ensure tell-tale signs like bins being left out for protracted periods or post building up are not an invitation to criminals to take advantage. Where offences are reported local officers will work closely with the detectives to ensure that community intelligence and CCTV opportunities are maximised to provide the greatest opportunities of identifying the offenders. We will ensure that our patrol plan ensures that officers patrol the right places at the right time maximising our opportunities to disrupt and catch offenders. During May, we have received 1 report of residential burglary where it appears a suspect may have entered a property through an unlocked door and looked around the garage. There has been multiple reports of suspicious behaviour but nothing of note relating to burglary. We have been raising awareness around windows and doors being left open/unlocked whilst you are out and to ensure all valuable items are removed or hidden. We continue to support residents with crime reduction items such as window alarms and work is planned in over the coming months to address residential burglary as we head towards the main holidays when this type of crime can increase.
Anti-social Behaviour – We have recognised the concerns of the community and have made it our priority to tackle this issue. We have lots planned on the run up to the Easter break which will include assemblies to be held at Hastings High School discussing what ASB, the impact it has on the community and the consequences if caught by police. We would encourage local residents to report issues to us and share information and CCTV, we have an excellent information sharing system with the school that will continue over the holidays and enables prompt identification of perpetrators. Over the coming weeks, we intend to increase our patrols in the area, use social media to engage with the community on this issue and actively target individuals identified as being involved. During May, reports of anti-social behaviour and neighbour disputes have increased. With the hot weather and increased footfall around parks and pubs, we have been identifying multiple youths, completing home visits and working with local schools to address those involved. We have also spent a lot of time dealing with neighbour disputes, working with HBBC, and trying to resolve concerns raised. Targeted patrols ongoing at locations such as Tilton Road park due to reports of some very unhygienic behaviour as well as nitrous oxide use. Arrest also made in relation to a spate of graffiti towards the bottom and middle of Burbage. Multiple stop searches and several arrests made in relation to drugs possession and drink drive.
Vehicle Crime - Over the coming months we seek to increase awareness across the community of things they can do or consider to prevent them becoming a victim of this type of crime, this will include several social media messages and crime safety events being held across the beat. Our patrols targeting this type of offending will continue and where offences occur, local officers will seek to support the investigators by visiting the areas and looking at CCTV and other evidential opportunities to maximise the likelihood of identifying an offender. During May, theft of a VW Golf from a food delivery driver whilst delivering on Brookside, we have raised awareness to anyone using a vehicle for deliveries of any sort, to ensure engines are turned off and keys removed before leaving the vehicle. We have supported residents with RFID wallets and continue to raise awareness, especially during the hot weather as more people leave windows open and doors unlocked. Do not leave valuables such as laptops, tools, bags or cash in your vehicle on display.
